Queens Manor...now memories

Just as the Capitol 6 parking lot is etched in the memory of CARTS, now the Queens Manor Parking lot is the same. But, the beautiful thing is, as volunteers we all have different memories. Because so many of the memories are built on relationships. It's that sacred soul-space where initially we were strangers to one another, and with time we became friends. Some of us have gotten together with one another during the week for coffee, or a burger. Some have week after week visited a friend in jail. We have seen friends die from health related issues, addiction and suicide.

It's in this truly radical scandalous act of living out the gospel, the profound question of, " when did we ever see you Lord?"

When I was hungry, you fed me. When I was thirsty, you gave me a drink. When I was in jail, you visited me.
When I was naked, you clothed me. When in was sick, you cared for me.

What ever you do for the least of these, you have done to me.

In this profound act, there is a redemptive reaction that changes humanity. In this redemptive act both giver, and receiver are changed. It is a transaction that changes how we see everything, and everyone, including ourselves.

I can only say Queens Manor has changed each one of us. Strangely we have discovered our own poverty. But most of all we have discovered how we all need love. That grace is just that, there are no limits to Gods grace. That you can risk absolutely everything on Gods love...it never fails.

In the picture below, last Sunday's volunteers just before we packed up and left the parking lot. And Joanne, who works the main desk at Queens Manor who has been an advocate and supporter of Carts came out to give everyone a hug.
